Formalizing partnership through Memorandum of Understanding with key partners, such as Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU), Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR), Ministry of Health (MOH), and the Bangsamoro Commission for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (BCPCH).

Islamic Financing of UP-CIDS, Smart Agriculture and Disaster Preparedness of UPLB, Innovation and entrepreneurship and cultural heritage of UP Mindanao.

UP to intensify involvement in BARMM​

University of the Philippines Mindanao Professor Lyre Anni Murao disclosed the University of the Philippines’ (UP) plan to create a UP Bangsamoro Development Institute (BDI) to contribute to inclusive and sustainable peace and development in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

DZUP’s Rex Espiritu interviewed UP Mindanao chancellor Prof. Lyre Anni Murao on the proposed UP Bangsamoro Development Institute in the DZUP Balita episode of May 22, 2024. Chancellor Murao was interviewed in her capacity as chairperson of the Technical Working Group for the Creation of the UP Bangsamoro Development Institute (BDI).

SUC Collaboration Program holds consultation with BARMM SUCs

The UP-State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Collaboration Program, headed by EVP Jose Fernando Alcantara, held a Stakeholders Consultation with BARMM SUCs on May 8, 2024, in Davao City. This was held in coordination with the Technical Working Group (TWG) for the Creation of the UP Bangsamoro Development Institute (BDI).

The Technical Working Group for the Creation of the UP-Bangsamoro Development Institute met on February 13, 2024, to map out the way forward towards the realization of this initiative.

Chancellor Murao at BARMM Roundtable and Meeting

Chancellor Lyre Murao participated in the high-level meeting and roundtable discussion to harmonize existing UP-BARMM programs towards developing a harmonized research and extension agenda in line with BARMM’s objectives.
