UP-Bangsamoro Development Initiative (BDI)

Driving inclusive, sustainable peace and development in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region for Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

Who We Are

The UP-Bangsamoro Development Initiative (UP-BDI) is a flagship program of the University of the Philippines (UP), founded on the collaborative efforts between UP and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). It is driven by a shared commitment to advancing the governance aspirations of the Bangsamoro people. Established through the formation of a Technical Working Group (TWG), UP-BDI is envisioned as a dedicated program of UP, to be hosted and administered by UP Mindanao.

Through recent development initiatives on the ground, the TWG has made significant strides in strengthening collaboration with BARMM, laying a strong foundation for sustained partnerships. This synergy between UP and BARMM strategically aligns resources and expertise to facilitate targeted interventions that address the unique needs of the Bangsamoro. These efforts are grounded in evidence-based approaches and inclusive partnerships, ensuring that development initiatives respect and uphold the cultural heritage of the Bangsamoro people.

With these collaborative efforts, UP remains committed to fostering sustainable peace and development in the Bangsamoro region.
